Mr and Mrs Randall, friends of our treasurer Goretti Martinón, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Tuesday 21st February. Instead of presents, they asked their guests to make a donation to NTM – 17 guests gave a total of 220 euros. We are immensely grateful for Mr and Mrs Randall’s generosity and that of their guests, and of course we would like to congratulate them on reaching their golden wedding anniversary!

On January 28th Roy and Tena had their baby-naming service, arranged by Jackie Lee, and instead of presents for their daughter, Lexi, they asked people to donate to NTM – and raised a whopping 220 euros in the process!

Jackie’s cheese and wine evening, held in her house on February 29th, was well attended and raised 260 euros for NTM. Also, four ladies kindly donated clothes for Jackie to sell, which raised over 360 euros.

This money will go towards our next project – building 2 classrooms as part of the ‘Adopt a Village’ scheme near Naivasha, Kenya.

Thanks very much Jackie, Roy and Tena […]

We have come to expect a very high standard of service and dinner party food from the hotel management, and they never fail us. Again Max managed the music brilliantly and an impersonation of Michael Jackson was a delight. So many thanks for the raffle prizes, the sellers, the organisers, the helpers. The money raised was €1,249.

Christmas Fayre 2011The annual Christmas Fayre this year took place in the Tias Sociedad on Sunday November 27th. It was very well attended, especially by the children. Whole families were brought in off the street by the ‘Oye, Oye’ bell ringing of Fran. Father Christmas had to give up his camel but was so popular, Ron Ballantyne and his printing team, Lesley and Betty, were working overtime. Children wandered everywhere with painted faces by Freya; Kelly Noble sang, and Lyndsey Carroll organised Zumba dancing. Max was in charge of […]

Padel TournamentMore than 100 children took part in Pádel Kids’ first tournament, celebrated in the Centro Deportivo Fariones at the beginning of October. Children of all ages and from other islands, such as Tenerife and Gran Canaria, enjoyed a weekend of competition, music and pádel exhibitions. The children participating in the tournament raised 316€ for NTM, for which we are very grateful. Padel Kids’ director, Pauline Sáenz Smith, assures us that pádel tennis in Lanzarote, and the Canaries, will be well represented over the coming years.
